Intima attracts adult, ,singles couples and  small groups.  Nicely appointed rooms and suites are the resort's best feature.  Intima is lifestyle friendly but not emphasized. Resort Overview

Intima Resort is an upscale, adults only, clothing optional condo property with 36 units, villa apartments and penthouses located near the city center of Tulum, a bustling village south of Cancun's airport about 90 minutes by car. Some accommodations adjoin, perfect for two couples to share a common living room and kitchen.  Intima is a private, walled complex surrounded by the Mexican Caribbean jungle, located close to the town center, as well as Tulum’s famous optional beaches minutes away. Tropical landscaping and gardens are dotted throughout with the centerpiece being a free form pool stretching from one end to the resort to the other with a swim up bar at one end.  The property is not on the beach which is about 10 minutes east by car or taxi.  Guests can walk to the center of town and the main highway MX 307 in 5-7 minutes.

ALERT:  Although Intima is  only a few blocks from the main highway  MX 307, your taxi or transfer driver may need instructions about how to find the resort. PRINT the instructions below in "Getting There" in English & Spanish to take with you.  Make 2 copies:  One for you and one for your driver.

accommodations include villa suites and studios, many with plunge pools, Jacuzzis and waterways. The resort, on the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico's “Rivera Maya,” appeals to single clients and couples in an adult only, clothing optional environment with choices to rent guest quarters only or include a meals plan. Your options are to:

1) Prepare your own meals in accommodations with fully equipped kitchens (Studios do not have kitchens).  A couple of grocery stores are nearby via taxi.

or

2) Select an "all inclusive" dining/drink plan with meals, complimentary wine and bar drinks. 

Each well-appointed suite features beautiful woodwork, marble and stylish décor with upscale bathroom and kitchen fixtures. All bedrooms are master bedroom/bathroom suites and depending on style, feature such luxuries as kitchens, semi-private pools and swim-ups, private hot tubs, terraces, roof top terraces and splash pools.

Go now before Tulum morphs into Cancun or Playa del Carmen.

ALERT:   Unless a group is there, the resort may be very quiet.  There is no entertainment, no night life unless you create it and no night club.   A small swim up bar and tiny restaurant and kitchen are on site with reasonable prices.  An all inclusive plan may also be available.

Getting There

Tulum is about 90 minutes (120 kilometers) south of the Cancun airport so you're secluded but close to most things for night life and shopping in town, which is close enough to walk there.

Passports are required for international air travel to all destinations outside the USA.

Cancun is a world-class vacation area, served by numerous airlines from North America, South America and Europe. Both scheduled air carriers as well as charter flights fly to Cancun with frequent service from just about anywhere

Taxis are plentiful at the airport and all major rental car companies are located at the Cancun airport. A shuttle from the airport is the most direct and economical method to reach Tulum, other than for the adventurous who might elect to take a local bus. Arrange for shuttle service in advance via Castaways Travel. NOTE: If you make your own way to the resort, taxi rates are typically fixed prices for transportation to/from the airport. Tulum has taxis that serve the resort just a few minutes from the town's main drag.

Frequent bus service to other parts of Mexico is also available in Tulum downtown.

Directions to INTIMA RESORT

1.When leaving the airport, take the Playa del Carmen/Tulum exit to the right which will take you south on highway 307.
2.Stay on highway 307,when going thru Playa del Carmen make sure to take the fly-over bridges along the way to save time.After about 90 minutes from leaving the airport you will arrive in Tulum.
3.Continue on 307 through town and turn left on Av. Kukulkan. Street signs are few and far between so to identify the Av. Kukulkan turn, just before leaving town watch for an Oxxo convenience store on the right side and Yza pharmacy on the left, turn left in that corner. If you see El Camello Jr. restaurant on the left side of 307 you just passed the turn so do a U-turn and then make a right turn between El Camello Jr. restaurant and Yza pharmacy.

4.Continue on Av. Kukulcan for about 500 yards until you reach our entrance road which is lined with fluorescent orange rocks. Turn there and you will find Intima Resort just ahead on your left.

Istrucciones a INTIMA RESORT
1.Al salir del aeropuerto, tome la salida de Playa del Carmen / Tulum hacia la derecha, que le llevará hacia el sur por la carretera 307.
2.Manténgase en la carretera 307,al llegar a Playa del Carmen  asegúrese de tomar los puentes de exclusión aérea sobre el camino para ahorrar tiempo. Después de unos 90 minutos de haber dejado     el aeropuerto llegara a Tulum.
3.Continúe por la carretera 307 a través de la ciudad y gire a la izquierda en Av . Kukulkán que se encuentre casi a la salida de la ciudad. Los señalamientos en las calles son escasos y poco visibles, para identificar la Av . Kukulkan ,ubique una tienda Oxxo de lado derecho y de lado izquierdo una farmacia Yza, de vuelta a la Izquierda en esaesquina.  Si ve el restaurante El Camello Jr. de lado         izquierdo de la carretera 307 se hapasado y tendrá que darvuelta en U en la primera oportunidady doblar a la derecha en la calle entre la farmacia Yza y el restaurante El Camello Jr.
4.Continuar en la Av . Kukulcan durante unos 500 metros hasta llegar a nuestro camino de entrada que está llena de rocas de color naranja fluorescente. Gire allí y usted encontrará Intima Resort justo     por delante a su izquierda

Ambiance

The resort is pleasant and intimate with beautiful furnishing, the latest appliances. Hand made furniture complement each apartment and guest quarters. Lush tropical foliage surround the resort as well as planted greenery everywhere on the grounds.

Without question, the Jacuzzis and plunge pools as well as the main meandering pool are the center piece for lounging and relaxing. Of course, the swim up pool bar attracts its share of characters, too.

For a funky, authenticate experience, hop from block to block along the main drag nearby that divides Tulum's town center. Don't forget to explore the back streets for fun shops, neat little restaurants and new discoveries.   If you have time,explore the beach road  (MX 109) just east of  Tulum that leads to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere National Reserve. This stretch of several miles is filled with restaurants, small resorts and shops....really funky and a lot of fun.  Need a car or taxi to get there.   Read more below.

With the hotel close to everything near Tulum, you can choose from many activities when you leave the resort. You can book your off site tours such as: diving, dive with the dolphins,tours, shopping in Cancun or Playa del Carmen, couples only tours and many more alternatives. Here's just a partial list of things to do:

Shopping, cruising the bars & clubs in Tulum or Playa del Carmen, snorkeling and swimming in the natural lagoons at Xcaret or Xel-ha to the north, visiting the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza or Coba to the northwest or see Tulum Mayan ruins nearby, fishing or diving on the Mayan Reef, the second longest barrier reef in the world, extending all the way to Belize. Optional private escorted tours with driver and guide can be arranged at the resort, with transportation that will pick you up right at the resort for your guided tour.

Or, choose to swim with the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin just off the beach or ride horseback in the nearby jungle. If you want to see more of the area, you can go to Playa del Carmen and catch a water taxi to cross the channel to Cozumel for about $12-$15/person/one way (prices subject to change without notice). Playa del Carmen is about 45 minutes north of Tulum.  Trip acros the channel to Cozumel takes about 30-45 minutes, depending upon the wind & weather….or if the waves are running high. Deep sea/bill fishing and SCUBA diving can be arranged  at the hotel, too.

Dining

Passions Restaurant and Bar is both the club and restaurant, open during the day and evening to provide food and beverage service to Intima Resort guests. Dine in the restaurant palapa, poolside or request room service. The adjacent bar is conveniently surrounded by the palapa, pool and communal hot tub so you can walk up, swim up or continue relaxing in the hot tub while enjoying your favorite drink.   ALERT:  The bar & restaurant are very small as is the swim up bar so don't go expecting a big crowd.

Guests have a choice of dining options:

1) Renting accommodations with kitchens to prepare their own meals.  Studios do not have kitchens, only a private bath and bedroom overlooking the pool.

2) Renting accommodations without kitchen facilities, enabling them to choose an all inclusive plan or al a carte meals or exploring Tulum's restaurants, bars and bistros.  Meals are offered by the resident chef for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Passions Restaurant. Located poolside at Intima Resort, Passions Restaurant is known for serving classic and delicious cuisine, paired with kind and attentive hospitality. Passions offers authentic Mexican and Mayan family-inspired recipes served in a casual setting.

We found the dining on site to be filling and nourishing but not gourmet.

Don't miss seeing the Tulum Eco Zone along the coastal road MX 109 with numerous shops, night life, bars, quaint family-owned guest houses and small resorts plus many choices of restaurants. Tulum and the Cancun, Mexico areas are year round destinations.   Storms can occasionally visit the area in the fall every few years but weather is tropical throughout the 12 months.  See average temperatures below. Wish List

• Wish there was a separate conversation area for socializing or night club area on site.   Currently, the dining room serves as the function area.  For groups, usually a 2 bedroom penthouse serves as a Meet & Greet and function area.
