This new adventure is a fun follow up to a similar venture Castaways Travel sponsored a few years ago for a complete resort takeover on Belize’s Ambergris Caye. We dived Belize’s Mayan Barrier Reef, 2nd largest in the world besides Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and had a BLAST.
NOTE: The trip in this page is for a Castaways complete Belize island takeover, but it’s not Ambergris Caye.
Belize is great fun. When you do decide to dress: It’s shorts, T-shirt or Tank top, a hat, sunscreen, sundress and flip-flops…..or nothing at all. So, where the heck is Belize? It’s a little over an hour south of Cancun or Cozumel by air. The northern border of Belize is the southern border of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. Your final mainland destination is 20-25 minutes south of Belize City by Mayan Island Air to Dangriga. It’s a short shuttle transfer to the dock for your 20-25 minute boat trip to CASTAWAYS ISLAND.

Welcome to a 5 Star Belize “CASTAWAYS ISLAND” where all-inclusive features are “included” such as: Airfare roundtrip between Belize International Airport and Dangriga, round trip boat transfers between mainland and the island, snorkeling, 2 excursion options, meals, snacks, local beer and liquor, taxes and entertainment are included. THE ISLAND: Your holiday adventure is 8 miles off the coast of Dangriga, Belize. Round trip commuter air from Belize International (BZE) to Dangriga(DGA) takes 20-25 minutes plus a short transfer to the island by speedboat. Belize International is served frequently by American, Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska Air, Copa plus other air carriers from the US and Central America.
Details: Fly to Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport – Belize (BZE) and transfer from BZE to Dangriga Airport (DGA) via commuter aircraft. After arriving in Dangriga you will transfer by van to an ocean dock where your speed boat will take you to the island on a 20- 25 minute ride across some of the most beautiful Caribbean sea to your private Castaways Island retreat for a week.

We’ve been to Belize many times including the interior and love the diving and snorkeling there. The citizens are some of the nicest folks you will ever meet. And Belize is the only Latin American country where English is the official language, followed by Spanish. Plus Belize gladly takes U.S. dollars so no currency exchange is required.

Located just 1/2 mile away, Man-O-War Caye is a designated bird sanctuary. It is home to a variety of indigenous bird species, including Pelicans, Brown Booby birds and Magnificent Frigate birds that soar in great numbers above the island.

You never go away hungry! Three (3) island meals daily plus snacks and extra bites during Happy Hour daily at the bar 4 – 6 PM. Your favorite bar tenders “Hot” Rod and “Swervin’ Ervin” (below-middle and right) are at your service daily at the bar. Guest services manager is Alex on the left.
DRINKS
BYOB or purchase duty free at the Belize airport before your short commuter flight on Maya Air. Several shops include extensive choices of liquor such as tequila, scotch, whisky, bourbon and more. Wine can be purchased by the bottle at the “+501 Duty Free” shop in the waiting area for your commuter flight.
Red wine is limited to a couple brands from Argentina or other Latin American sources. Some brands show off the creativity and sense of humor in Belize.
