Wait? - NAKED at a SANDALS JAMAICA RESORT?
Yes, you read that right. While Sandals Resorts Jamaica certainly aren't known for clothing-optional or nude travel... we're seeing more "European" or topless at these Adults Only resorts... and one with a little-known clothing-optional section.
A valid passport and a free Jamaican Visitor card (C-5 form) are required to enter Jamaica. You are encouraged to register online in advance. Or complete a free paper form upon arrival.

Sandals Jamaica Resorts Overview
You don't normally think of Sandals along with nudity, clothing-optional facilities or toplessness for the ladies. But things seem to be changing... if not necessarily "official resort policy"... at least in practice. We haven't been able to recommend Sandals for the serious naturist or nudist who wants to be nude all of the time, but maybe that's starting to change. If you want to try out one of these well-known resorts... read further to find a little synopsis on each along with the "nudity quotient" for each.
But generally speaking... the Sandals Jamaica Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay has a clothing-optional area set aside on its offshore island and you can be totally nude there. Also... while not officially endorsed by the resort... top free for the women on the beaches is becoming more commonplace at all of the Sandals. When asked about toplessness for the women on Sandals Jamaica beaches, the response from Sandals management is: If anyone complains or is offended you "may" be asked to cover up, but rarely does anyone ever complain".
For those of you who don't know... Sandals are All-Inclusive resorts throughout the Caribbean. Included in one price are all accommodations, meals, water sports, amenities and airport transfers as well. Prices vary widely by resort and season, however, there are some really nice specials as travel has been a bit down in the Caribbean. If you see something of interest... use our quote reservation form to get the most current rates.
Reserve your spot at Club MoBay, an upscale traveler’s lounge in the newest section of the Montego Bay Airport. The Club provides expedited arrival, customs/immigration, and departure services in addition to the Club admission, all-inclusive, with drinks, bar service, and snacks, WiFi, satellite TV provided.
Since the Sandals Royal Caribbean is the ONLY Sandals to "officially" sanction nudity or topless on it's island, we'll focus mostly on that one...
Sandals Royal Caribbean - Montego Bay, Jamaica
In a class by itself, Sandals Royal Caribbean's character is that of a noble escape in a Georgian-style Great House setting. Scuba dive amongst jewel-toned reefs. water ski across the sparkling sea. Indulge in the pinnacle of privacy and intimacy at our private offshore island with its own pool, whirlpool, and exotic restaurant. Enjoy a sailing excursion along the meandering shoreline, or just soak up the golden rays of the sun on a magnificent stretch of white-sand beach.
The small, clothing-optional beach is on the right side of the small island behind the red-roofed restaurant below and opposite the offshore, overwater bungalows. Just to be clear: None of the Sandals properties are nudist resorts so don't go expecting it. The separate island below, part of the main Sandals Royal Caribbean is not a nudist haven...it has no facilities except at the plunge pool below. Just cover up with a swimsuit if you visit the spa area and plunge pool on the left side of the island.
Nudity Status: The offshore island does have a portion set aside for nude sunbathing. The nude section of the island is not very well known, but depending on the crowd any particular week, can be quite active, but other times you could find yourself pretty much alone. On the main beach topless for the women is becoming more common, but not yet "officially endorsed by management. Castaways Note: We've had one of our clients visit Sandals Royal Caribbean and especially the nude portion of the island. And he's been kind enough to send in a few photos of that section of beach along with the "nudity warning" sign.
From September Couple 2019 - Sandals Jamaica Royal Caribbean near Montego Bay, Jamaica. We just spent a couple of days in September 2019 @ Sandals Royal Caribbean, Montego Bay to celebrate my wife's + our 25th wedding anniversary. The resort was excellent and the staff made sure we felt welcome throughout our stay. The clothing optional area (on the private island) was small yet adequate for the amount of people there when we visited. Re. Service from your staff, Lori provided superb support from planning, purchase up to the date of travel. Will call again for future travel plans.
Construction on the Island is complete, very nice set up. There is construction on other parts of the resort now. I believe they are building additional rooms + remodeling the main restaurant.
The CO area is nice yet I have nothing to compare it with since it was our first time in a CO beach. It was similar to the description by MM/ 2015, except that the amount of loungers was about 8 (no space for more). Getting in and out of the water can be a bit of a challenge (particularly if you are holding a drink). They have a nice stone stairway with a stainless steel handrail that leads into the water. The challenge is that the last two steps are under water and the handrail does not reach that far. Depth drops steeply after the last step (perhaps to 3-5ft deep). The underwater steps are slippery and/ or with marine growth that can scratch your skin if you lose your balance before reaching the handrail upon transitioning from standing to swimming or vice versa. Would recommend to wear water shoes or aqua shoes.
From KP , a 2016 visitor to Sandals Jamaica Royal Caribbean near Montego Bay, Jamaica. Not much of the C/O beach on the island is left and only one shade structure and about a dozen loungers. Over half has been taken and walled off for the new construction work on their overwater suit at the dock end. There is a temporary privacy fence but construction workers out on the pilings can see onto the beach and small swimming area. It does however, cut down on the looky-loos and prudies who don't seem to be able to read signs and show up at the beach feigning shock and horror at the naked bodies - though it is kind of amusing. It is supposed to be put back when they are finished - officially end of Sept 2016. But they will have to hustle to get that done. Originally they just closed the entire beach, with no warning - maybe I should say the whole beach, "entire" is a bit grand, it wasn't that big to start with. Management had so many people complaining and wanting a refund they re-opened part of it. The following week, new guests, more complaints - nowhere to get in the water or swim! So they cut the new access in the wall and made some steps. With more than about 4 couples it can get pretty close quarters now - fortunately, most of us nudies are pretty sociable folk. However........ they said they had no idea how important it was to a significant number of repeat guests or that so many people only go there for the CO beach (shows how naïve and unobservant they are). They have treated it as a little titillating novelty. It is actually quite popular with people who like to sunbath nude or topless but like something smaller and more discrete rather than a Couples or Hedonism, etc. We have made some great friends there and see them same time each year. So they claim that when construction is finished they are going to restore and improve (wow!) the CO beach, including a permanent privacy fence and already have a bunch of new loungers on order (about time since the existing ones are getting old and saggy.) Hey, maybe they will also actually admit it exists and advertise it!! ...... or not..... They are also going to make a lot of improvements to the island in general. So unless you are a Sandals SRC C/O beach die hard regular, I would avoid it for now until (if and until) it is revamped, especially as Sandals do not let anyone know in advance that it's very restricted right now.
From MM - Summer 2015: We spent 4 nights at the resort and 3 days on the island. The clothing optional section is a nice area with approximately 20 loungers and several palapas for shade. The beach area is elevated and separated from the sea by a low wall which provides privacy from the water while still allowing a beautiful view of ocean. Access to the ocean is through a 4 foot opening in the wall. The water is beautiful and the bottom is sandy. Along the wall there was a lot of sea life and a lot of people spent time snorkeling nude along the shore line. Lots of colorful fish, lobster, stingrays and other sea life.
The back side of the island is clothing optional (not nude mandatory) and most everyone was in some stage of undress. The bartender made regular trips to the C/O side delivering drinks to all who needed them. The island has a clothed pool with swim up bar available as well as an outdoor beach restaurant for lunch ( also clothed). The clothed and C/O sections of the island are separated by vegetation and trees so it's a very secluded area. Being clothing optional, clothed guests do wander through the area and the section is rather narrow so they are walking through the beach area. This may be a problem for some but we found people moved along quickly. Sandal RC is close to Sandals Montego Bay and guests at both resorts can share facilities and we found a few couples would travel from SMB for an afternoon on the private island. I attached a few pictures of the C/O section of the beach. Thanks Again. MM

Sandals Carlyle - Montego Bay, Jamaica
Only five minutes from Sangster International Airport, and 10 minutes from neighboring Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals Carlyle (formally Sandals Inn) may be our smallest resort but it's big on warmth and charm. This intimate hideaway for two includes true room service and is home to 2 gourmet restaurants. Full exchange privileges at our 2 other Montego Bay resorts mean 9 more gourmet restaurants to choose from. No other resort of this size offers so much.
Nudity Status: On the main beach topless for the women is becoming more common, but not yet "officially endorsed by management. In addition, Sandals offers full exchange privileges with the nearby Sandals Royal Caribbean so you can check out the nude section on the Island there. While not on the property... another clothing optional beach can be found nearby adjacent to the Sunscape Splash Resort, a few minutes away by taxi.
Sandals Ochi - Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Nestled in Romantic Ocho Rios, this lush resort is considered the Caribbean Riviera where fragrant gardens are tucked between the mountains and the sea. Guests are only minutes away from Championship golf at Sandals Golf & Country Club. Savor 4 gourmet restaurants on property plus 12 more at nearby Sandals and Beaches properties where full exchange privileges include water skiing and the option of a full-services European Spa.
Nudity Status: On the main beach topless for the women is not very common but occasionally seen... but it depends on the crowd for that particular week.
Sandals Royal Plantation - Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Set in romantic Ocho Rios, minutes from 18 holes of world-class golf at Sandals Golf & Country Club, this breathtaking resort combines the Italian Renaissance with Jamaican charm. Enjoy 24-hour room service for Concierge category rooms and suites, one of the Island's largest pools with a cascading waterfall, the option of a full service spa (treatments not included) and a pitch & putt golf course on site.
Nudity Status: On the main beach topless for the women is more common than Sandals Ochi... but again not very prevalent.
Sandals Negril - Negril, Jamaica
Set on the longest stretch of Negril's 7-mile beach, the ultimate beach resort is many resorts in one. It's the perfect place to just kick back and relax or do it all... including some of Jamaica's best scuba diving and snorkeling, modern fitness center, and a sports complex with tennis, squash and racquetball. With 4 gourmet restaurants on site full exchange privileges at Beaches Negril and Beaches Sandy Bay, you can dine around Negril at 12 restaurants. Then indulge in our full service European Spa (treatments not included).
Nudity Status: On the main beach topless for the women is becoming more common here than perhaps any other Jamaican Sandals resort even though it is not yet "officially endorsed by management. On a recent walk through, we observed that there is still full nudity found on the public beach to the south of Sandals, but not as much as you used to see in the past.
Sandals Whitehouse - Whitehouse, Jamaica
Three distinctive European Villages-French, Italian and Dutch-are set along a two-mile stretch of beach where you can watch both the sunrise and sunset each day. Relax by one of three pools, including Jamaica's largest. At night, extravagant bonfire areas and firepits add to the glow of this truly unique destination in the heart of paradise.
Nudity Status: We've been to Sandals Whitehouse. Being on the Southern side of the island, we've not seen a lot of nudity or topless in that area. So we wouldn't expect it on property. However, the resort sits on the edge of a 2-mile stretch of mostly undeveloped beach... and we did find this little gem in the Sandals Whitehouse section of their website, "Sandals Whitehouse is perfectly positioned along a two-mile stretch of unspoiled beach where you can view both the sunrise and the sunset each day. The serenity along this stretch of natural coastline is ideally suited both to relaxation and romance savored beneath the shade of an almond tree". Now that sounds to us like you might find some private space for more than just some au natural sunning... 🙂
Once again: If it's a full out clothing optional or nude vacation you're looking for, then Sandals may NOT be the answer. The exception being Sandals Royal Caribbean and it's "good for first-timers" nudity accepted section out on the island but only in the small designated area of the beach....to the right side of the red-roofed restaurant.
