From pre trip connections to lifelong friendships, here’s what makes the group experience different
People usually come to Hedonism II with questions.
Will I have to be nude?
Will I be expected to participate in the lifestyle?
Will everyone else know exactly what they are doing while I feel completely out of place?
Those are fair questions.
But after more than four decades of sending travelers to Hedonism II, Castaways Travel has learned that the biggest concern for many first time guests is actually much simpler.
Will I fit in?
That is where traveling with a hosted Castaways group changes the experience.
You can book Hedonism II on your own, arrive at the resort, check in, and figure things out as you go.
Or you can travel with a Castaways group and arrive already recognizing names and faces, knowing who your hosts are, having people to meet for a drink, and feeling like you are joining a community instead of walking into the resort alone.
And that difference starts before you ever step foot in the resort.
A hosted Hedo trip is not just a hotel reservation with a group name attached to it.
Depending on the group, hosts may connect travelers through Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, or another private group before departure.
That gives first timers somewhere to ask the questions they may not want to post publicly.
What should I pack?
How seriously do people take the theme nights?
What happens at the nude pool?
What should my partner and I talk about before we go?
Who else is arriving around the same time?
Is anyone else nervous?
People start introducing themselves, comparing travel plans, sharing outfit ideas, joking around, and getting to know the personalities in the group.
By the time everyone arrives in Jamaica, those names on a screen are no longer complete strangers.
For a resort that can feel intimidating before your first visit, arriving to familiar faces can make all the difference.
Champagne and James Bailey, legacy owners of Castaways Travel, first visited Hedonism II in 1987 and began hosting groups in 1991.
Over the decades, they have watched thousands of travelers arrive with preconceived ideas about what Hedonism is going to be like, then watched many of those worries disappear within the first few days.
Yes, Hedonism II has nude areas, clothing optional areas, theme nights, adult entertainment, and a lifestyle friendly atmosphere.
But the experience is still entirely yours.
You do not have to participate in the lifestyle.
You do not have to dress for every theme night.
You do not have to join every activity or spend every afternoon at the pool.
And outside of the designated nude areas, you decide how much or how little you want to wear.
The goal is not to experience someone else’s version of Hedonism.
It is to discover your own.
James has summed that up for years with four simple words:
Your Pleasure. Your Way.
Today, owners Jennifer and Chris McCoy carry that Castaways legacy forward, working alongside experienced host couples who continue welcoming new travelers to Hedo.
One of the most remarkable things Castaways has witnessed over 39 years of hosting groups has very little to do with the resort itself.
It is what happens to people.
Many first timers arrive worried about how they look, whether they will fit in, or how they compare to everyone else. But within a few days, those concerns often start to fade.
At Hedonism, you will meet people of every age, size, style, and personality. After a surprisingly short time, those differences matter less.
For many guests, especially women, that can lead to a noticeable shift in confidence. They become more relaxed, more comfortable in their own skin, and realize something incredibly freeing:
Nobody is judging them nearly as much as they feared.
Hedonism does not change who you are. It gives you the space to feel more comfortable being yourself.
Imagine arriving at Hedo for the first time and knowing nobody.
Now imagine walking in and already recognizing people from your group chat.
Someone knows your name, waves you over, introduces you around, and tells you where everyone is meeting later.
That first hour feels completely different.
Dean and Kat, AWOL Hosts, say that immediate sense of belonging is one of the things that surprises guests most.
“First timers are often surprised by how quickly they feel like part of a group. Before long, it feels like friends on vacation.”
That is one of the biggest advantages of going with a hosted group.
You do not have to create your own social circle after you arrive.
You already have one.
When people hear the words group trip, they sometimes imagine schedules, mandatory dinners, matching shirts, and somebody telling them where they need to be all day.
A Castaways Hedo group gives you opportunities, not obligations.
There may be a welcome event, pool gatherings, group dinners, games, excursions, catamaran trips, theme night meetups, or spontaneous plans that happen along the way.
You can spend the afternoon with the group, make plans with people you just met, take time alone with your partner, or reconnect with everyone later.
The value is knowing there are people around when you want company, without losing the freedom to experience Hedo your own way.
Holly and John, Rhavens Haven Hosts, describe that balance especially well.
“A Castaways group gives you an instant community without taking away your freedom. You have familiar faces and support when you want it, while still experiencing Hedo at your own pace.”
Their philosophy is simple:
Widen the Circle.
Meet people, introduce people, invite someone into the conversation, and enjoy your group without creating a bubble around it.
One of the most underrated parts of traveling with experienced hosts is having someone around who understands Hedo.
They know the resort.
They know the atmosphere.
They know what first timers worry about.
And they can help answer the questions you may not exactly want to ask the front desk.
That can be as simple as where everyone is meeting that night, or as personal as navigating expectations and boundaries with your partner.
Especially for couples, communication matters.
Talk about boundaries before you travel.
Keep talking after you arrive.
Give each other room to change your minds.
Curiosity does not require participation.
There is nothing wrong with deciding, something is not for you.
A couple of days after the first meet and greet, something changes.
People start saving seats for each other, making dinner plans, and deciding what everyone is doing later that night.
At that point, the hosts barely need to make introductions anymore.
Marilyn, Hellians Host, says this is her favorite part of hosting.
“Watching strangers become friends is the best part of hosting. By the middle of the week, people are sharing meals, making plans, and already talking about traveling together again.”
That feeling is difficult to reproduce at a traditional resort.
At many Caribbean properties, two people can spend a week sitting beside the same couple at the pool and never learn their names.
At Hedo, strangers tend to talk.
A lot.
You might wake up early, grab a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, and watch the sun rise over the Caribbean.
Or you might be heading to bed while someone else is just starting their morning.
You might spend the day scuba diving.
You might snorkel, sail, join a pool game, book a catamaran, explore Negril, or decide that moving twenty feet from your beach chair is simply too ambitious.
And then there are nude pool games. The kind of games you could only experience at Hedo.
Dean and Kat, hosts of AWOL, favorite pool game involves blindfolded women trying to identify their husbands by touch below the waist from a lineup of naked men.
At Hedonism, saying, “Well, I have never seen that before,” is pretty much the norm for newbies.
Then the energy changes as evening approaches.
People head to dinner.
Theme night outfits start appearing.
Music starts.
The piano bar fills.
People dance, talk. And before long, the daytime pool energy turns into a completely different kind of night.
You do not have to enter the playroom at all.
If you are curious, you can look around, stay for a few minutes, leave, come back another night, participate, or simply observe.
Walking through the door does not create an expectation that you have to do anything.
That same philosophy applies throughout Hedo.
Go at your own pace, respect other people’s boundaries, and expect yours to be respected too.
Hedonism II is not trying to be a marble lobby, white glove, ultra luxury Caribbean resort.
In fact, one description captures Hedo remarkably well:
“A three star resort with five star guests.”
The resort has comfortable rooms, restaurants, bars, beaches, pools, entertainment, water sports, theme nights, and plenty to keep you busy.
But that is not why so many people return.
They return because the social experience is difficult to find anywhere else.
And if you have absolutely no idea how to break the ice, there is one question that always works:
“Have you been here before?”
If they say yes, you will probably get a story.
If they say no, you already have something in common.
Our Hedonism II First Timer Guide covers the practical details, including resort etiquette, nude area guidelines, playroom rules, room tips, packing advice, airport information, and more. You can also visit the “FAQ & Travel Tips” tab on our Hedonism II page for answers to more commonly asked questions.
You can book Hedonism II on your own through a variety of travel providers.
But a Castaways hosted group gives you much more than a room reservation.
Before the trip, you can begin connecting with your hosts and fellow travelers through Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, or other private group chats.
During the trip, you have experienced hosts, familiar faces, group activities, people to ask questions, and a community to join whenever you want it.
After the trip, those connections continue.
The group chats stay active.
Inside jokes are repeated for years.
Friendships grow.
People start asking when everyone is going back.
One couple decides to travel with another couple.
Then someone else joins them.
Castaways has watched that pattern repeat for years.
One couple becomes two.
Two couples become a group.
Years later, many of those same people are still taking vacations together.
Booking Hedo gets you to Jamaica. Booking a Castaways hosted group gives you an instant community to experience it with.
Castaways has multiple Hedonism II group trips throughout the year. Every group welcomes first timers and has experienced hosts ready to help guests connect.
But each group develops its own personality, traditions, and community.
Some groups have a more laid back, easygoing vibe.
Others are known for a nonstop party atmosphere.
Some groups attract more couples, while others, like Lovin’ Life, are especially popular with singles and solo travelers.
For some guests, choosing a Hedo trip starts with the dates that work best.
For others, it comes down to the hosts, the people they have traveled with before, or simply the group whose personality feels like the right fit.
So rather than asking only:
“When should I go to Hedonism?”
There may be a better question:
“Which Castaways Hedo group feels like my vibe?”
Because the resort may be what gets you to Jamaica, but the people are what keep you coming back.

Turning Bucket Lists Into Boarding Passes
For more than 15 years, I’ve been helping travelers turn dream vacations into unforgettable memories. From hosting adults only cruises and group trips to exploring six of the world’s seven continents, I’ve experienced many of the destinations I recommend firsthand. Antarctica is the only one still on my bucket list.
When I’m not planning incredible getaways, you’ll usually find me enjoying South Florida with my family, scuba diving, exploring new places, or dreaming about the next adventure. My husband and I were even married underwater, so it’s safe to say travel and the ocean are a big part of who I am. My favorite part of this job is helping clients experience those unforgettable wow moments that become memories for a lifetime.

Your Vacation Matchmaker
One Bliss Cruise changed everything.
I’ve been cruising my entire life, but one Bliss Cruise introduced me to an incredible community that completely changed my trajectory. Now, I love helping others discover that same unforgettable experience.
You’ll usually find me on the dance floor. I’m a social butterfly at heart and have earned the reputation as the unofficial matchmaker, bringing couples together, turning strangers into lifelong friends, and helping everyone feel like they belong.
I can’t wait to help you find your perfect getaway and welcome you into the amazing community that made me feel at home from day one.

Your Story Starts Here
I’ve spent more than 15 years helping trade everyday stress for sunshine, ocean views, and unforgettable memories. I’m the person who obsesses over the little details so you don’t have to. Finding the perfect room, the perfect resort, or that hidden gem that makes you say, “How did you know about this?” is my favorite part of the job.
Lifestyle travel has a special place in my heart because it’s about so much more than the destination. It’s about relaxing, reconnecting, making new friends, and being completely yourself. My husband and I love exploring these cruises and resorts together, so when I make a recommendation, it’s based on firsthand experience.
Whether you’re planning your very first lifestyle vacation or you’re already part of the community, I’ll make sure every detail is handled with care, discretion, and lots of excitement for the adventure ahead.

Helping you find your happy place
I’ve been turning vacation dreams into reality since right after high school, took a brief detour while life happened, and happily found my way back to the travel industry in 2014. After helping travelers from our Texas office, I traded cowboy boots for flip flops and returned to Florida to be closer to family. These days, nothing makes me happier than helping people discover the kind of vacation they’ll still be talking about long after they unpack.
The overwater bungalows at Palafitos at Maroma Beach will always have my heart, while Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios is one of my favorite places to completely unwind. Having personally experienced many of the resorts we offer, I can help you understand the little differences that don’t always show up in a brochure but can make all the difference in your vacation.
When I’m not planning incredible getaways, you’ll probably find me clipping into a Peloton ride, taking Molly, my spirited Jack Russell, for a walk, spending time with my grandbabies, or enjoying a relaxing day at the beach. Those simple moments remind me exactly why vacations matter so much. They give us time to reconnect, recharge, and make memories with the people we love.
I can’t wait to help you find your next favorite destination.

The calm behind the storm
Every great vacation needs someone behind the scenes making sure all the pieces come together, and that’s where I come in! As Castaways Travel’s Chief Chaos Coordinator, I keep the wheels turning so our travelers can focus on making memories. Whether it’s organizing group details, solving last minute challenges, or keeping our Pleasure Planners on track, I thrive on turning organized chaos into unforgettable vacations.
I found my passion for travel in 2019 after spending decades in specialty and luxury retail, and I’ve never looked back. My favorite part of what I do is helping create experiences where people can truly relax, reconnect, and be themselves, whether that’s on a lifestyle cruise, at an adults only resort, or somewhere completely off the beaten path.
When I’m not keeping the Castaways crew sailing smoothly, you’ll probably find me cheering on my son at a baseball tournament, visiting my Aggie at Texas A&M, or dreaming up the next adventure. After all, behind every unforgettable vacation is just a little organized chaos, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If it floats, chances are I’ve been on it.
I’ve spent more than 30 years helping people find their happy place, and if it floats, chances are I’ve been on it. As the second-generation owner of Castaways Travel, I grew up in this business and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Desire and Bliss Cruises will always have a special place in my heart because they bring together amazing people, unforgettable experiences, and friendships that last long after the cruise is over.
When I’m not planning clothing optional vacations, I’m probably giving belly rubs to Lilly, my four-legged first mate, dreaming about my next cruise, or convincing someone that “just one more vacation” is always the best idea.
My favorite part of this job is watching people step away from everyday life, reconnect with each other, and discover a community where they can truly be themselves. Nothing makes me happier than welcoming clients back year after year because, once you’re part of the Castaways family, you’re family for life.
