What entry documents do I need to enter Mexico

Required for most visitors

  • Valid passport book with at least one blank page, passport cards are not accepted for air travel. 

Visa rules

  • No visa needed for many nationalities such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union for stays up to 180 days, subject to the officer’s discretion. Travelers from other countries may need a visa or may qualify for Mexico’s electronic authorization. Check your nearest Mexican embassy or consulate. 

Quintana Roo visitor tax

  • If you are vacationing in Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Cozumel, the state of Quintana Roo requires VISITAX. Pay online and keep the receipt or QR code, you may be asked for proof before departure. 

The Mexican Peso is the legal tender in Mexico. However, most merchants will accept U.S dollars and major credit cards. Once you are at Desire Pearl, almost everything is included in the price you pay. The resort is on a cashless system. 

Flying into Cancún International Airport (CUN)

  • Taxi/Shuttle: If you book four or more nights with Castaways Travel, we’ll include complimentary airport transfers to and from the hotel. There resort is 25 minutes from the airport depending on traffic.
  • Rental Car: If you want to go exploring on your own since the highways are so well developed. Do so at your own risk.  If you rent a car, buy insurance. 

Expect tropical Caribbean climate: warm, humid, with frequent sunshine. Rain and showers are possible during certain seasons, check local forecasts for your travel dates.

The Riviera Maya (Quintana Roo) follows Eastern Time (UTC-5) without daylight-saving time changes (as of latest standard). Always verify at time of travel.

Desire Resort uses a filtered water system throughout the property. The resort also provides bottled water in every suite and minibar, and ice served at the bars and restaurants is made with purified water.

Although the water system meets high safety standards, it’s still recommended to drink bottled water when unsure, especially if you have a sensitive stomach or are not accustomed to local water sources.

Mexico uses ~110-120 V / 60 Hz (similar to U.S.) with Type A/B plugs (two flat pins). If you have devices from other countries or voltage differs, bring a converter/adapter accordingly.

Is Desire Pearl specifically for swingers?

Desire Pearl prides itself on being a swinger-friendly hotel, where all lifestyles are respected and they provide an atmosphere for couples to enjoy their intimate holidays.

Desire Resorts are exclusively for couples. However, if you are already staying at one of our Desire Resorts, you have the opportunity to enjoy a Day Pass at either Desire Riviera Maya Resort or Desire Pearl Riviera Maya Resort for $150 USD per couple.

Check-in time is at 3:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. If you need a late check-out, please request it at the front desk or with your butler.

No, Desire Pearl Riviera Maya Resort does not allow single adults to book a room alone. It is strictly for male-female couples only

Desire Pearl offers limited accessibility for guests with reduced mobility. Some areas of the resort provide ramp access, and select rooms are more easily reachable for guests who use mobility aids. However, the property’s villa-style design includes stairs and uneven pathways, which may make certain sections, such as the beach and upper-level rooms, more difficult to access.

If you or your partner has specific accessibility needs, it’s best to notify your Castaways Travel advisor in advance to request an appropriate room and confirm current accessibility options.

What exactly does ‘Clothing-Optional’ mean?

Clothing optional areas otherwise referred to as “au naturel” are area where you have the choice to wear clothes or not, depending on your preference. The designated au naturel areas are the Jacuzzi Lounge, the beach, and the pool.

Yes, tipping is allowed but never expected. Gratuities are already included in the resort’s all-inclusive plan, so guests don’t need to tip for regular service. However, if a staff member goes above and beyond, small cash tips in US dollars or pesos are always appreciated. Most guests choose to tip bartenders, servers, and housekeepers for exceptional service, typically in small denominations for convenience.

The minimum age to stay at our resort is 21. While the average age range of our guests is typically between 30-45 years old, Desire Pearl welcomes all adults who are seeking to enjoy a good time with their partners and rekindle the flame.

Yes, you are welcome to be au naturel in the clothing-optional areas of the hotel, such as the pools, beach, Jacuzzi Lounge, and the Private Couples’ Lounge. However, please note that clothing is required in the disco, restaurants, and other public areas.

No — photography and video are only permitted in the privacy of your own room. Guests are requested not to take pictures or videos in other public-areas of the resort, in order to protect the privacy of all guests.

Intimate activities are only permitted in the Jacuzzi Lounge and the Playroom. They are strictly prohibited in the public areas such as the pool or beach.

The entire hotel premises including the beach, public areas, rooms, terraces, pools, and dining venues are smoke-free spaces. Smoking is only allowed in a designated area located between the jacuzzi and the pool, next to the towel valet.

Nudity is welcome throughout the resort but not required. Guests may go nude in these areas, but it’s not mandatory. Clothing or swimwear is fully acceptable.

We offer flexible payment options; you can divide your total into multiple payments and space them out according to your preference before final delivery.

Transfer Policy

  • We offer a flexible transfer option. You may move your booking to another lifestyle or vanilla vacation package booked through Castaways, subject to availability and supplier rules.

  • One transfer per booking. Names on the booking must remain the same. Name changes follow the supplier rules and fees.

  • Any fare difference, taxes, and fees for the new trip are the guest’s responsibility. Promotional pricing, onboard credits, and perks may not carry over.

  • Requests must be submitted in writing to your travel agent or to our reservations email before the final cancellation window for your sailing. After the final window, transfers are not guaranteed and may be treated as a cancellation.

  • Travel insurance, air, hotel, and third party products follow the provider rules and may incur their own change fees.
