We always have had a great time at Desire resort. We rarely
go shopping outside of the resort, we are perfectly happy to spend our entire
vacation at Desire. We find the accommodations beautiful, clean, and well kept.
All of the employees were very cordial and helpful. My food choices are usually
in the chicken, fish, pork, vegetables & fruits and they are always
wonderful. My husbamd has a fondness for corn fed beef, which I dont
believe is usually served there. But he was pleasantly surprised by the beef
fajitas at the poolside open restaurant this year.
The only problem I
had this year were the very itchy bug bites I received on my lower legs and
feet. I dont know whether I got them in the sand on the beach or
somewhere else, but next year I will try to have some kind of spray to repel
whatever the culprit was. My husband didnt get bit, only me. We plan to
come back again next year, probably in January.

AWESOME is all we can say! We have been to them all and
this was outstanding! We could not find hardly a thing to complain about!
Staff, food, activities, entertainment and accommodations were all outstanding.
We would have liked to see one more restaurant and the lobby music play later
but otherwise we were floored by everything. The only downer is now the prices
are extremely high compared to others and if they brought the prices down a bit
we would go several times a year. If you can afford it, I would not miss this
place!!! I did not want to leave!

Thanks again for coordinating our trip to Pearl. We got
there on Nov 30th and the transportation was smooth and quick. Upon check in,
they notified us that we had been upgraded to a Junior Suite. WOW. We got room
82 on the far end of the resort toward the pier. It was huge and we had a
butler too. Not sure how all of this happened, but it was a nice
surprise.
We also got to select our pool chairs and had the same ones
all week. The staff was just great. At breakfast, Roger showed up with my
bloody mary and my husband's tequila sunrise, before we even asked. We thought
the food was good too. The dinners were the best though. One comment, is that
we think that the Pearl restaurant should have more that two dinner options,
since there's only two places to eat. The night they had sushi upstairs was
really nice. We also had our anniversary dinner on the pier and it was
beautiful.
The pool was huge and so was the hot tub. The entertainment
between dinner and the disco was GREAT. The disco music was a bit too techno
and not too many people danced there. More people danced in the lobby with the
entertainment than at the disco.
The theme nights were a lot of fun
and much different than in years past. These were more creative. In fact, I
came in second to a Miami Pole Dancer in the Sexy Legs contest!
We ran
into some folks we've met before at other places and also met new people. One
couple had never left the country, much less try one of these resorts. We
showed them the ropes.
There was a take-over at Desire and they didn't
allow anyone on the property. A few folks were upset about not being able to go
over for dinners. We walked from Pearl to Desire, and found out the hard way
that we weren't allowed in. They escorted us to the front and called us a taxi.
Oh well. Thought you'd like to know our take on Pearl. We'd go back.

From the minute that we walked through the door until we
left, we had a wonderful experience. The check-in went smoothly and was
escorted to our Ocean View room. The room was great and we did not have any
issues with it. The main problem was mosquitoes. At dark, they would attack you
on the balcony even though they regularly fogged for them. I cannot say enough
about the attentiveness of the staff. The waiters and pool staff took good care
of us. They always had a smile. The entertainment staff was fun and has some
good events to participate in. Unfortunately, they had to work hard to get
people to participate. It was bothersome to some degree but you can tell them
no and they went on their way. Since the occupancy was low, we did not have
problems with finding loungers around the pool. However, there will be an issue
with loungers when there are more people there. The beach had plenty of
loungers though. The hotel was about 40 â 50% occupied but
this did not present a problem. It was a good crowd and we had a blast. As
always, we met people that will definitely be our friends and we are planning
on going back with them. At night, the theme nights were fun with good
participation. The shows were also worthwhile. In our opinion, Desire Pearl was
a lot better than Desire RM and this is the resort that we will prefer to go to
in the future.

We stayed at Desire Pearl in late October for seven
days.
What a great trip! I cannot say enough about how great the staff
was. They were at the pool, on the beach, wherever, whenever.
Food was
good. Not as good food as Hidden Beach but better than just about anywhere
else. I wish they had more fresh fish offerings.
Pool was warm, it was
not that windy on the beach. No doubt a cut above the other Desires. Much more
like Hidden Beach but with a much more sensually charged atmosphere. And a
really good beach. Yes, there is some public from time to time but not much to
worry about. We played naked volley ball and bocce, and layed out. It was not
an issue as the hotel is pretty private.
Pool activities were happening
but not in your face. They have an activities side and a quiet side. We were
always on the activities side, and joined in on pool volley ball, aerobics,
etc., and read a book. We are not "lifestylers" but enjoy the vibe. Guess we
walk the line. Night activities were really fun! Best hot tub!
Not a
ton of entertainment but lots of fun people to be entertained. We dressed for
some of the themes. Be careful for what you are getting yourself into but it
will be fun! We met some people there who we are sure we will meet up again
with. We are for sure going back! We went to the reef one hour snorkel but it
is nothing like Cozumul. They really should offer free gear for just out front
of the hotel. I will be bringing my own next time. We also did the combined zip
line ATV etc trip. Fun, but pretty tame. Next time we will probably do the nude
cruise we did from HBR, also departing from Pearl. Overall, this is a great
resort. Lots of fun people!

We both enjoyed the Desire Pearl resort. The staff was
friendly and helpful; the pool area well kept and clean The food was great even
though there was only the one restaurant open when we were there because they
were remodeling the other. Yes we would definitely go back. (Castaways Note: A
Sushi bar has also been added this fall).

Desire Pearl is a PEARL - great ambiance, accommodations,
facilities, food, staff, activities. Only draw backs - one restaurant was being
renovated and the 'main' bar in lobby is not air conditioned. We are planning a
return trip next April and can not wait for the return visit!

| August 2012 - Bob & Jackie |

Jackie and I just returned from a week's
stay at the new Desire Pearl Resort on the Mayan Riviera. It is our humble
opinion that the Desire folks have a definite winner in the Pearl. They have
created an intimate, luxury resort that offers a less edgy vibe than one might
find at the original Desire.
The property is approximately 10 years
old and sits on a lovely stretch of beach about one mile north of Puerto
Morelos. Pearl is a smaller resort than the original Desire. The pool is huge
and directly overlooks the ocean. There are plenty of lounge chairs and cabana
beds around the pool and on the beach itself. A cozy dining area off the main
lobby serves as the principle restaurant for dinner. We took breakfast and
lunch at the wonderful beach/poolside restaurant with its large patio dining
area overlooking the sea. Finally, this resort boasts the grandest Jacuzzi that
we have ever seen in all of our resort travels. Secluded from the pubic beach,
it holds 50 of your new best friends and has its own swim up bar! It also has
various levels of seating so you can cook as much or as little of your body in
the warm water as you want.
Hands down the rooms of Pearl are the
finest we have ever experienced. We stayed in a master suite that had a small
patio and plunge pool. We had both a large bedroom and a separate, equally
large living room. Our room also offered the ultimate luxury- two full sized
bathrooms. The rooms were very well appointed and the king bed was very
comfortable.
The food was delicious throughout our entire stay.
Breakfast was generally a buffet with made to order eggs and omelets. We liked
having the option at lunch and dinner to either eat from the buffet or from an
extensive a la carte menu. At every meal, Victor, the restaurant manager, would
come to our table and offer to make whatever special "off menu" plate we might
desire. The biggest surprise was the quality of the house wines. Jackie and I
are nice people but serious wine snobs. Anticipating less then wonderful wines,
we actually brought several bottles of our own to the resort. While we would
probably continue to bring wine on our next trip, we would make it for the
first glass only. The house wines were just fine as a 2nd or 3rd glass. The
resort offered a full complement of top shelf liquor as well.
Resort
Tip: Book a romantic dinner inside the small wine room for you and your
significant other. You have to buy a bottle of wine (good selection) or order
from the extra charge menu, but it is money very well spent. The second tip is
to ask Diego to make you a special cappuccino for either breakfast or lunch.
Diego's talents put a Starbuck's barista to shame.
To a person, the
staff was friendly and went out of their way to make quests feel at home. That
has always been our experience on the Mayan Riviera and we were glad to see it
well maintained at Pearl.
The night club is small, intimate but with
sufficient room for dancing. Jackie came in second place (she was robbed) in
the sexy legs contest on our first night there. Pearl puts on classy
entertainment acts which are very sexy. The play room is smaller than the one
at Desire and has no outside windows.
One day we took a 20 minute walk
down the beach to the picturesque fishing village of Puerto Morelos, south of
Pearl. It is a fun late afternoon outing. If you go, be sure to visit the open
air Catholic Church just off the SW corner of the central park. You don't have
to be religious to appreciate this beautifully simple architectural gem.
Wish List:
-The resort is clothing optional at the pool,
Jacuzzi, and on the beach. We wish that the resort would open itself to
full/partial nudity on all its grounds, with the exception of the main
restaurant and night club.
-The Lobby Restaurant offered both a buffet
and a full menu for dinner. Another of our newfound friends suggested that the
poolside restaurant offer a more casual dinner of lighter fare so those who
wanted to "grab and go".
-We would have loved to use a kayak off the
beach but there did not seem to be any in service. The resort should offer some
non-motorized sports, to include kayaking.
-Wi-FI should be included
instead of being an extra charge.
Bottom line: We will definitely be
back!!

We just got back from six days and five
nights at Desire Pearl. Wow, it was great! This was our first trip to Desire
and we chose Pearl because it sounded nicer and might be a bit more laid back
than Desire Riviera Maya.
It was everything we expected and then some.
We were greeted by friendly staff that checked us in efficiently and then
showed us around on our way to our Master Suite. The suite was spacious, nicely
decorated and as we discovered later the king size bed which was very
comfortable. We couldnt wait to get out of our clothes and down to the
pool.
On check- in they said that the resort was at 40% occupancy but
it seemed to be a bit less. Anyway we headed to the end of the pool where all
the folks seemed to be congregated. Before we made it into the water we were
greeted by the bar and the entertainment staff. With drinks in hand we made it
into the pool where we started meeting all the great people. We met some
old timers from Desire Riviera Maya and some newbies like us. The
fun shifts from the pool to the Jacuzzi everyday around 4:30 PM. The Jacuzzi
was amazing though some days they had problems maintaining the
temperature.
The food was consistently excellent with varying dinner
menus served by really caring staff. On two nights we ordered food that was not
on the menu without any problems. We found the house wines pleasant enough that
we had no need to order from the special wine list.
On a
couple of nights there was a great band in the lobby that played classic rock
and 70s music with folks dancing before the club opened. The club was
nice and each nights entertainment was fun and got everyone in the mood
to head over to the Jacuzzi around midnight. The playroom was empty most nights
(though we did play there one night when we did find it in use) though the beds
around the Jacuzzi did get a work out in the afternoon and at night.
Even though the resort was less than 40% occupied, there were plenty of
interesting people from the US, Canada and Europe with whom to
interact. We think in time, word will get out and Pearl will be as
Desirable as Desire Riviera Maya. We are home less than 24 hours and are trying
to figure out when we will go back to Pearl.

The pool and the grounds at the resort are
just beautiful. Lush tropical landscaping that is very well maintained never
disappoints the avid photographer. On occasion we had a friendly visit by an
iguana that made his home in a rock right behind my chair at the pool. The pool
itself is large and allowed everyone to enjoy the activity they preferred best.
Whether your choice was to lounge on a float in the water, play volleyball or
sit in a chair on the water covered sun deck, the pool is so large that all the
aforementioned activities were happening simultaneously without bother. The
best part about the pool area is that there are lots of chairs and no crowding.
The beach is very close to the pool area. The beach is cleaned daily of seaweed
that washes up overnight and chairs and beach beds are a plenty. The beach
palapas make a nice cover when you need a break from the sun while lying on the
beach....
As a new resort... this detailed report on Desire Pearl is one
you'll want to read. The complete report in PDF format is found here.
